ERS 385 To Students......

ERS 385 is a reading course. It is meant to provide you with an opportunity to explore the issues related to sustainability through discussion with your peers. The course instructor acts as a moderator of this dialogue. A set of readings are used as a foundation for weekly discussion.

The meeting time for the course is not used for lectures but rather for discussion of the week's readings. Of course we cannot have a discussion unless we have all done our readings for the week. You are responsible for reading the core readings for each week and demonstrating through comments and discussion in class that you have done so. Each of you will take responsibility for individually assigned readings related to the week's topic. Normally each student will be responsible for presenting their assigned reading to the class, every other week. You are encouraged to suggest readings that you would like to cover.

The WWW page for the course is a resource to lead you to sources of information related to each week's theme. You are expected to check the WWW page before each class for information and resources related to the week's theme. Please share anything you find interesting in class or via e-mail.
