Beginning in 1993, under the supervision of Dr. James Kay, University of Waterloo, Faculty of Environmental Studies, eight undergraduate students (The Huron Working Group) embarked on a study of ecosystem theories. The Huron Natural Area was a newly created park in the region. The group decided, that as a case study, it would develop and implement an ecosystem approach for monitoring the Huron Natural Area.
