The goal of this project is to provide long term sustainability of the natural systems in a regionally significant 360 acre site within the City of Kitchener. An environmental education facility which will be used as a model of energy and water efficiency is a key component in the strategy to maintain the ecosystem integrity of this natural area and provide long term environmental, educational and recreation benefits.
The project's mission is to maintain the ecological integrity and stewardship of the area through facilitating the understanding of the indigenous ecosystems by all users through the educational process.
This WWW site is the work of James Kay and his students at the University of Waterloo. It is not sanctioned or approved by any of the Board or partners of the Huron Strasburg Natural Park Environmental Area. Furthermore, much of the material predates 1997 and needs updating. Do not treat any statements made here as confirmed facts or accurate current information. (and now the various corporate lawyers are happy!)
